From 2008-2022, mystery writer Sujata Massey has researched special places, famous and infamous, for her historical novels set in 1920s India. In our online talk #MistrysMumbai, Sujata will share the favorite haunts of her heroine lawyer, Perveen Mistry, and discuss those characteristics that give certain buildings, gardens and districts star billing.  

About the speaker 

Sujata Massey is the author of Murder on Malabar hill, The Satapur moonstone, The Bombay prince, and a dozen other works. She is the eldest daughter of parents from Bengal and Germany, and was born in Britain, moving to the United States in early childhood. She grew up mostly in Minnesota and was educated at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Sujata makes her home in Baltimore, Maryland, and travels frequently to India to research her Perveen Mistry historical mystery series. These books, set in 1920s India, have won the Agatha, Mary Higgins Clark, Lefty and Macavity awards for mystery fiction. Her work is published in more than 20 countries including India.
