#WomenOfSubstance : Virtual Walk 23

Date: 18-Jul-2021 | Time: 18:00:00 - 19:30:00

INR 349/- PER PERSON (All inclusive)

In the 19th century, the precinct of Gamdevi, with its close proximity to Girgaon, the conservative bastion of the Native Town of Bombay, as well as the emerging European area of Malabar Hill, became a hub of progressive thought in the city, bringing about a confluence of Indian beliefs and Western ideas. The movement for women's emancipation in the city too began here as pioneering women from this part of town broke the shackles and barriers imposed by a patriarchal society to forge their own paths in diverse fields - medicine, art, education, philosophy, politics, music, theatre, business and social service - enabling the women of Mumbai of today to enjoy the freedoms they do. On our #WomenOfSubstance virtual heritage walk, we take you through the bylanes of Gamdevi and introduce you to these extraordinary women. NOTE: The virtual walk link will be shared a couple of hours before the event.
