THE OLD LADY OF BORI BUNDER TURNS 183!
This day in 1838, Raobahadur Narayan Dinanath Velkar started a biweekly newspaper called The Bombay Times and Journal of Commerce. In 1860, the newspaper was merged with its rival The Bombay Standard to become The Bombay Times and Standard, and was eventually rechristened The Times Of India in 1861. It moved into its present premises at Bori Bunder at the ripe old age of 65.
