Khaki Heritage Foundation

For everyone involved with Khaki, heritage is a passion, and the intention has always been to do more than just creating awareness about Mumbai’s heritage through the heritage walks and tours we curate and conduct. The Khaki Heritage Foundation was set up to formalise and give structure to this intention. Our mission is in our name: K.H.A.K.I. - Keeping Heritage Alive and Kicking in India.

AWARENESS

Creating awareness about Mumbai’s heritage among all city stakeholders - residents, visitors, students, private organisations, NGOs, governmental agencies and elected representatives – through walks, talks, street installations, on-ground events, publications and online resources.

ARCHIVING

Documenting and archiving articles, books, photos, paintings, artefacts, etc. related to the city’s heritage and making them accessible to students, teachers, journalists, researchers and heritage enthusiasts for reference through a library.

CONSERVATION

Conserving Mumbai’s tangible and intangible heritage in conjunction with local authorities/ owners and conservation experts through fundraising with various agencies.

Khaki Lab

The K.H.A.K.I. Lab is Khaki’s own laboratory for incubating the ‘heritage bug’ and infecting the city’s population with it. A multi-purpose cultural space, the Lab hosts a library and regular exhibitions, lectures, workshops and more on everything related with Mumbai.
