Parsi Zoroastrian culture is in danger of dying out, both in India and the world. Their stories have been calling out to be documented and preserved for future generations. Author Armin Wandrewala does precisely that in her new fictional work, The Moment of the Banyan. At our Online Talk #Parsipanu, she will bring out the essence of being Parsi from her work and her research - their way of life in the agrarian villages and coastal towns of Gujarat, then moving to Bombay, life in the diaspora abroad, their rites and rituals, reet rivaj, ceremonies, festivals, delicious cuisine and, of course, colourful language, while offering insights into the Zoroastrian religion and culture. She will also be reading snatches from the novel and talking about the work that went into writing it.
