After Bhagat Singh bombed the assembly and surrendered, he planned to fight the British from behind the bars. But, Phanindra Nath Ghosh turned approver. His damning testimony led to the hanging of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. With their leaders gone and British oppression at its peak, surviving members of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association rallied around a lone figure: Baikunth Sukul, an unassuming teacher from Bihar and devoted admirer of Bhagat Singh, who swore to exact revenge on behalf of the martyrs and the HSRA. Did he succeed in this nearly impossible mission? What happened when he locked horns with the formidable British Raj? And to what lengths did he go to avenge Bhagat Singh’s death? At our Online Talk #AForgottenHero, author Abhijeet Bhalerao tells us this story of a patriot against a traitor, a common man against the empire.
