Banking in India has a two-century-old history. From the Presidency banks of the 1800s to the Imperial bank and then the State Bank of India, India has seen many banks emerge over the past 200 years. At our Online Talk #BanksOfIndia, author Vikrant Pande tells us how banking evolved in the country and how closely it participated in the key events that shaped the nation. He provides a historical perspective and a glimpse into the future of banking in India, while narrating fascinating anecdotes on how corporate governance, customer orientation, employee and HR practises, and many such things we take for granted in banking today, were completely missing during British India times.
