Did you know? Delhi’s Lal Qila was once titled Qila-E-Mubarak. The fort, built under the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, was the centrepiece of his capital city, Shahjahanabad located on the banks of the Yamuna. At our Online Talk #QilaEMubarak, conservation architect Anisha Shekhar Mukherjee will reveal many little-known facets of the Red Fort - why it is such an important national and cultural icon, its unique design; its relationship with the city of Shahjahanabad, the extent of its transformation over time, and the reasons for such transformation. She will also examine the relevance of the principles of the design and use of the Fort and city, to the way in which we live and build today, and what is it that we can learn from them.
